the Antica Cultural Dining Experience

We serve a set menu and we serve the entire restaurant at the same set session time. WE SERVE FOOD + STORIES.

Antica is a small and intimate venue of around 20 guests. It’s best to reserve your place at least 2-3 weeks in advance.

Lunch is 1pm and Dinner is 7pm. Please ensure you arrive on time.

Prepayment is required to confirm your booking.

THE MENU. There isn’t one.

Throw all your preconceptions of an Italian restaurant out the window when you walk in our door. We are a locanda (a local dining establishment), where you are a very welcome guest. It is not fine dining. There is no silver service. This is a cultural dining experience.

Paolo cooks in the casarecce (homemade)style of the Ciociarian region in central Italy. Slow-cooked and seasonal, with fresh local Australian produce recreating ancient and traditional Ciociarian dishes - with some creative dishes thrown in for good measure (and for fun).

We offer a four course set menu only, with a vegetarian option. We are gloriously BYO. There’s a pub next door if you run out.

OUR PROVENANCE ethos.

We source our produce direct from local producers, orchards and farms in the Orange, Canowindra and Cowra districts within a 100 mile radius and with a focus on being artisanal, sustainable, ethical and organic.

We proudly use local Kalavista organic olive oil and Cintra Estate vino cotto both from Canowindra. Our milk is from Little Big Dairy Co in Dubbo. We source our ethical and happy locally pasture-raised meat from our ethical and happy local butchers, Blayney Hi-Grade Meats. Over 80% of our produce for each set menu is sourced locally and seasonally.

OUR minimal waste ethos.

We only bring in all the produce we need for each weekend to ensure there is absolutely minimal waste. We spend at least two days a week hand-sourcing and hand-collecting our local produce. At the end of each weekend we have a small bucket of kitchen scraps that are collected for the enjoyment of local chooks.

DIETARY REQUESTS

All of our set menus have a vegetarian option on request. Please note at least 2-3 days’ notice prior to the weekend is required to prepare, as we slow-cook our vegetables too.

Please also note that we have a very tiny kitchen with a kitchen team of one and that other special dietary requirements can be a real challenge to accommodate. For genuine allergies, please feel free to ask and we’ll let you know what we can do. We are really sorry though, we cannot cater for any dairy or nut free requests. Ciociarians have been eating wild nuts and berries from the forests, milk, cream, cheese and honey for literally thousands of years.

KIDS MENU

There isn’t one. Italians don’t believe in making special meals for kids, they eat what the adults eat - on smaller plates. Please also be aware that Antica is a small and intimate dining venue and isn’t really ideal for small children.

Antica is a dining venue for serious foodies. That is, people who like to eat good food.
